*Draft* WinGate licenses are perpetual – they never expire. If you were to place a version 5.x license into a version 6.x installation then that installation will be licensed for the features of that version 5 license. For example, WinGate 6.x has a new feature added to the license; an IMAP Server. A version 5.x license in a version 6.x installation will not permit access to the IMAP Server because that feature was never available when the license was purchased. Allowing earlier version license to be used with the latest release of WinGate means you can always expect the maintenance to the original software features you purchased.
